To ensure your fire is in tip-top condition, it’s a good idea to have it serviced annually. The best time is in the autumn, or late spring before or after your fire’s retired for the summer months.

An experienced gas safe registered engineer will clean all the working parts and ensure your fires are safe.

Your fire will run well following a service, burning the correct amount of fuel with a significantly reduced chance of breaking down.

An annual service also ensures home emergency cover and fire warranties are valid. A common stipulation is you must have your fire serviced every year.

An engineer will check your gas fire during your annual gas safety inspections if you’re a landlord. Adding a service is good practice to further ensure the safety of your tenants.

No Carbon Monoxide

As gas fires are fuel-burning appliances, they have the potential to generate carbon monoxide, which poisons and can kill.

Servicing uncovers any faults that could cause carbon monoxide poisoning.

Our engineer checks that the correct fuel rate is burned and that the flue or chimney is expelling all exhaust gasses at the correct rate.

If no carbon monoxide alarm is present near your fire, then it’s recommended you get one. Our engineer will make sure it’s positioned in the best possible place.

The Service

The service itself is straightforward. Our engineer will arrive on time and present a gas safe ID card to show an experienced professional is undertaking the service.

Dust sheets are laid, so nothing around the fire gets dirty.

The fire assemblies were removed so all internal parts could be reached and cleaned. The parts are also checked for obstructions.

Once clean, the fires are reassembled and switched on, the gas rate, pressure, safety devices and flue are checked and tested to ensure everything’s in good working order and safe.

A service record will be written and given to you once the service is completed.
